Johnnie "Lynn" Burke

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 1 pm in the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel with Blake Knight officiating.

Johnnie "Lynn" Burke, a beacon of love and gentleness, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024, in Dothan, AL, at the age of 57. Born on August 11, 1966, in Opelika, AL, to parents Johnny Sizemore and Barbara Ann King, Lynn grew to be a woman of immense kindness, selflessness, and strength.

Lynn's life was one of joyous melody and service. She was a successful painter in the industry for nearly twenty years, where her hard work, dedication, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with. Her passion for life was evident in her love for playing piano and singing, talents that brought comfort and happiness to many.

Lynn's spirit was as colorful as her favorite shade of purple. She adored all things Marilyn Monroe and had an affinity for the majestic beauty of white Bengal tigers, symbols of the courage and grace she carried throughout her life. Her bold and outspoken nature was balanced by a heart that embraced everyone she met; she truly never met a stranger. Friends and family will reminisce about Lynn's favorite dishes, particularly banana pudding, dirt cake, and potato salad.

As a devoted family woman, Lynn's world revolved around her loved ones. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Terry Burke, who stood by her side as a loving partner in life's journey. Her children, Jonathan Burke and Hannah Knight (married to Blake), were the pride and joy of her existence. Lynn's legacy continues through the light of her grandchildren, Charles E. Knight and Jameson Russell Knight, who were the absolute center of her universe.

Her parents, Johnny (Brenda) Sizemore and Barbara Ann King, will remember Lynn as the daughter who brought endless warmth and comfort into their lives. Lynn's sister, Maria Cooper (spouse Glenn), will cherish the countless memories they shared. Lynn's influence extended to her nephew, Josh (married to Krystal) Brannon, and niece, Brittany (married to David) Magouyrk, along with her great-nieces and nephews, Abigail, Ty, Mackinzie, Willow Brannon, and Elijah Magouyrk, all of whom will hold her close in their hearts.

Lynn's life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of living selflessly for others. Her gentle touch, warm embrace, and the eternal optimism will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She was a treasure to her family, a loyal friend to many, and a shining example of what it means to live with an open heart.

As the sun sets on Lynn's time with us, we are reminded of the joy she brought into our lives and the unwavering love she had for her family. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated, as her spirit continues to inspire those she has left behind.

Lynn's departure from this world is not an end but a continuation of her journey. Her melody will resonate in the hearts of her loved ones forever, a sweet, harmonious reminder of the beautiful soul that graced this earth. We bid farewell to Johnnie "Lynn" Burke, a woman of extraordinary love, and we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of kindness will live on for generations to come.
