Johnnie Ruth Pride, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019. She was 92.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Parks Chapel AME Church in Dothan with Pastor Aaron Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in New Miranda Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4-6 pm.
Mrs. Pride was born on September 30, 1926 in Pike County, Alabama and lived there the early years of her life. She resided in Florida before moving to Dothan in 1956 and would reside here for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Pride was employed with Emfinger Steel and Jimmy Tharp domestic work until her retirement in 1977. She enjoyed fishing anywhere there is a fishing hole, especially Kinsey Fishing Pond and Lake Eufaula. Mrs. Pride was a member of Allen Temple Church and later with Parks Chapel AME. Mrs. Pride will be terribly missed by her family and friends and will be remembered for her wit and outspokenness.
Mrs. Pride was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pride, and 2 of her children, Bobby Frazier and Janetha Pride.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, William Pride; her 2 daughters, Angela Pride and Lonnie Brannon; her 9 grandchildren; her 3 sisters, Della Hutchinson, Hattie Harper, and Anna Bevins; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
