JOHNNY E. HODGES
EDWIN, AL… Johnny E. Hodges, a resident of Edwin, Alabama, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 24, 2023, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was 69.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
The family is accepting flowers or contributions may be made to the Edwin Cemetery Fund, c/o Lamar Spivey, 6261 CR-54 West, Clopton, Alabama 36317.
Mr. Hodges was born in Ariton, Alabama to the late James Earl Hodges and Mary Frances Bush Hodges. He was a lifelong resident of the Edwin Community of Henry County, Alabama. He was engaged in farming his entire life, but also worked in plumbing and electrical. He was an avid hunter, loved farming, and riding his John Deere Gator. He also loved visiting with his neighbors, family, and almost anyone in the community he came into contact with.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 48 years, Marie Price Hodges; his daughters, Cheryl Ayer (Marty), Jennifer Hodges, and Melinda Birchler; his sons, Jonathan Hodges (Kristen) and Joseph Hodges (Tiffanie); his grandchildren, Brett Ayer, Caleb Ayer, Peyton Ayer, Bryce Birchler, Maddie Birchler, and Mollie Hodges; and his special cousin and close friend, Redonner Allums.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Tim Ryals, Jerome Bush, Spurgeon Hodges, David Price, Michael Price, Brett Ayer, Caleb Ayer, and Peyton Ayer. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Paulk, Mack Paulk, Edward “Sonny” Tanksley, Albert Adams, and Sammy Freeman.
