ABBEVILLE. . .Johnny Elbert Cochran, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died Monday morning, June 3, 2019, at his home. He was 74.
Memorial services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 6, 2019, in the Sardis Baptist Church with Reverend George Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Johnny Cochran was born in Pansey, Alabama, son of the late Dewey Elbert Cochran and Pauline Johnson Cochran. He retired from the Army National Guard in the Abbeville Unit as a Sergeant after 28 years of service. Johnny lived in the Lawrenceville Community of Henry County all his adult lifetime. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He was retired as a carpenter from Wright Construction Company of Eufaula. Johnny was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Cochran Kelley and a brother, Danny Cochran.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Turner Cochran; two daughters, Laura McAda, Lawrenceville Community; and Lisa Ann Wood (Jason), Eufaula; a son, Johnny Elbert Cochran, Jr. (Sharla), Lawrenceville Community; a sister, Sarah Carey (Larry), Ohio; a brother, Jimmy Cochran, Lawrenceville Community; six grandchildren, Samatha Barnes (Will), Wyatt Evans (Jasmine), Seth Wood (Jerry), Anastasia Wood, Raechel Cochran and Zechariah Cochran; three great-grandchildren, Sadie Barnes, Eli Barnes and Daniel Evans; a special friend, Bobby Wright, Eufaula.
