Johnny Forrest Wright of Samson, AL passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 74 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Bro. Zachary Hayes, Bro. Patrick Dyess, and Bro. Donnie Earles officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Forrest was born in Geneva County, AL on October 23, 1950, to William Bennett Wright and the late Lorane Powell Wright. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Wright Bowdin; father and mother-in-law, Edwin and Corine Wiginton.
Forrest Wright was hardworking, selfless, and deeply committed to his family, with a rich, diverse range of experiences. His story is one of dedication and love for others, grounded in the simple joys of life—like sweet treats and the great outdoors. He worked hard in various fields, from farming to construction to oil rigs to flowers, always prioritizing his family and giving his best to those around him. The perfectionism he had for others and himself, speaks to his humility and his inner drive to make the world better for those he loved, even if it meant setting aside his own expectations. His life was filled with contrasting yet meaningful roles where he focused on service, friendship, and hard work.
Forrest is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Charlotte W. Wright of Samson, AL; son, Kris Bowdin of Samson, AL; two daughters, Sandy Morris (Jim) of Samson, AL, and Cristie Stephenson (David) of Samson, AL; father, Bennett Wright (Ann) of Samson, AL; three grandchildren, Tyler Stephenson (Sydney), Brieanna Stephenson, and Cassie Lynn Copeland (Colby); two brothers, Benjamin Wright (Gail) and Gary Wiginton (Lisa); several special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Hayes, Lamar Jackson, Gary Grantham, James (T-Bone) Owens, Bobby Crutchfield, Keith Hayes, Terry Newell, and Wally Wilson.
