JOHNNY MACK PERRY
Johnny Mack Perry of Dothan, Alabama died December 24, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A private burial will be at Dothan City Cemetery. A memorial service will be held January 1, 2012, at 2:30 P.M. at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Rev. Ray Jones, Rev. Tim Willis, and Dr. Jerry Spencer will officiate. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 2:30 P.M. prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund at 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL, 36301. Mr. Perry was born July, 16, 1936 in Dothan. He was the son of the late W.J. Perry Sr. and Maggie Fair Perry. A sister, Irene Perry Thornell and her husband, Carlton and a brother W.J. (Bill) Perry, Jr. also preceded him in death.
Mr. Perry was a member of Ridgecrest for fifty years. He loved music and was a devoted choir member. His career was with the railroad industry for thirty years. He later served as a railroad consultant. Johnny Mack was an avid golfer and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with his wife after his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rose Harpe Perry; a son, John Gregory Perry and his wife, Angela of Atlanta; a daughter, Amy Perry Stutts and her husband, Tommy of Mobile; three grandchildren, Daniel Mera Perry, Olivia Rose Perry and Noah William Perry; a sister-in-law, Ellie Perry; brothers-in-law, Jackey T. Harpe and wife, Cleta and Lamar Harpe and wife, Helen. Several nieces and a nephew also survive. The family wishes to express appreciation to SAMC Home Health, Covenant Hospice and friends and neighbors for their kindness
