DOTHAN. . .Johnny Ray McQuain, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday afternoon, April 9, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. He was 69.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Darrell Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.

            Johnny McQuain was born in Belington, West Virginia, son of the late Loyal Fred (Mac) McQuain and Mary Frances Johnson McQuain. He moved with his family to Dothan as a child and was a 1964 graduate of Dothan High School. Johnny formerly served in the Air National Guard in Dothan.  He was a member of the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, between Headland & Columbia. Johnny was retired from Verizon and was formerly employed by GTE for many years. He was currently working for Blue Streak, LLC in Panama City as an Inspector. Johnny was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Clyde McQuain and Randy Michael McQuain.


            Surviving relatives include two sons, Brock McQuain, Dothan; and Ray McQuain, Headland; the mother of his children, Melba Hatcher McQuain; a sister-in-law, Joan Burkett McQuain, Dothan; a niece, Kathy McQuain, a nephew, David McQuain (Miranda), a great-nephew, James Killebrew (Megan); great-nieces, Jaimee McQuain and Madilyn McQuain; a great-great-nephew, Ward Killebrew; numerous cousins including Allen and Elizabeth Snellgrove.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be James Bryson, Darrell Bryson, Jimmy White, Jerry Blount, George Thomas, Sammy Register, Al Trull,  Rex Snellgrove and James Snellgrove.
