Jolon Doris Simmons

 

Mrs. Jolon Doris Simmons, age 77 of Hartford, passed away Monday morning, May 3, 2021, at her granddaughters’ home under the care of Dayspring Hospice following an illness.  Funeral service will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of New Life Pentecostal Church in Geneva with visitation one hour prior.

Doris was born in Florida on May 10, 1943 to the late to Lennie & Glovienne Williamson Shirah.  She moved to Hartford and worked as a seamstress at Van Heusen. 

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Owen Shepard and Gene Simmons; an infant son Robert Daniel.

Doris is survived by a son James Stewart (Ann); daughter Dorothy Stewart and daughter Shirley Simmons; brother Lamar Shirah (Teresa);11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
