Josefa Maria Brenner Lucas, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at a local hospital. She was 91.

The family will receive friends in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 1:30-2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 2pm with Deacon Rick Risher officiating.

The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, LA on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 10-11 am. Funeral services will be held at 11 am with Deacon Steve Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, LA.

Mrs. Lucas met her husband, Lawrence M. Lucas, following World War II and on May 5, 1948, they married and moved to the United States. She resided in Shreveport, Louisiana for most of her life before moving to Dothan in 2016. Mrs. Lucas was a cosmetologist for several years until her retirement in the early 1970’s. She loved fishing and enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence M. Lucas; her 2 sons, Dan (Cecelia) Lucas and Michael (Lynda) Lucas; her daughter, Juanita (Steve) Sykes; her 7 grandchildren, Dan (Heidi) Lucas, Tim (Ana) Lucas, Michelle (Jordan) Huck, Eric Lucas, Adam (Laura) Lucas, Jason (Alli) Lucas, and Maria Sykes; her 8 great-grandchildren; her brother, Helmut Schmied; and several nieces and nephews.
