Mr. DeCurtis was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Francis and Frances DeCurtis. He is survived by his sons, Joseph DeCurtis, Jr. (Annie) and Daniel DeCurtis (Ann); daughter, Christine Lilly (John); four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Joseph was many things to many people – a decorated soldier, a loving father, a man of faith, and a friend to all who knew him. As a soldier, he proudly served his country with distinction for 33 years in the United States Army. He received numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star and the Air Medal with Valor, which stand as testaments to his courage and skill. But more than the medals, it was his unwavering commitment to his duty and his fellow soldiers that truly defined him.
Faith and values were of utmost importance to him. Joseph was a devout Christian, and his faith was the cornerstone of his life. It guided his actions, shaped his character, and gave him strength in times of adversity. He showed that faith is not just about attending church on Sundays, but about living those values every day.
Mr. DeCurtis cherished his family more than anything else. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. His energy and zest for life were contagious, and he had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel special and valued.
As the family bids farewell to Joseph, they wish to celebrate the incredible life he lived and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him. Let us carry forward his legacy of hope, energy, and care. Let us strive to embody the values he held dear – courage, compassion, dedication, and love.
