Joseph Gerome “Buddy” Whitaker passed away at his home on Thursday, April 29, 2021. He was 69 years old.

 A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Woodie Dupree officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 P.M. and continue until service time.

Mr. Whitaker was born in Geneva, AL on November 23, 1951 to Addie Mae Wood Paul and the late Wilmer Whitaker. Buddy enjoyed fishing, and hunting. He was a loving husband and father.   

 He is preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Whitaker.

 Buddy is survived by his wife, Peggy Whitaker of Geneva, AL; two sons, Lawrence Whitaker and Richard Whitaker both of Geneva, AL; mother, Addie Mae Wood Paul of Geneva, AL; six stepchildren, Danny Joe Holder of Dothan, AL, Stevie Wayne Holder of Texas, Cindy Webster (Leon), Lee Baxley, Jimmy Wayne Baxley, and Amy Baxley all of Geneva, AL; three sisters, Judy Overton of Dothan, AL, Betty G. McGowan (Jerry) of Westville, FL, and Gail Maggard of Jacksonville, FL.
