Joseph Henry “Joey” Yancey of Westville, FL passed away on September 30, 2024 with his loving family by his side. He was 79.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2024 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Hall, Rev. Justin Hall, Rev. Josh Hall and Rev. Derek Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m.


Joey was born on December 18, 1944 in Holmes Co., Florida to the late Willie Henry and Rosie Ida Barton Yancey. He retired after more than 20 years working with the Holmes Co. School System as an electrician and in the maintenance department. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and building things, restoring old Ford cars and spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church for 46 years having served as a deacon for many years. He was a gentle man who had a loving and giving heart. He will be deeply missed.


 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Carol Elizabeth Yancey; two sons, Greg Yancey and Chris Yancey; and one brother, Max Yancey.


Joey is survived by his wife, Libby Galloway Yancey; son, Joseph Bryan Yancey (Jennifer) of Bonifay, daughter, Elizabeth Hope Hall (Ricky) of Wicksburg, AL, stepdaughter, Margo W. Bowser (Robert) of Westville, FL; 14 grandchildren, Emerald, Andrew, Sebastian, William, Justin, Josh, Courtney, Jill, Scotty, Emily, Wyatt, Jeffrey, Nikki and Roger; 16 great grandchildren; three siblings, Barbara Sellers and Olivia Messer, both of Bonifay, FL and Gary Yancey (Carolyn) of Geneva, AL and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.


 Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Justin Hall, Josh Hall, Wyatt Yancey, Jeffrey Yancey, William Yancey and Ethan Harris.
