Joseph Jezewski, Jr.

Joseph Jezewski, Jr., or Joey, as we fondly remember him, was more than just a son, a brother, an uncle, or a friend. He was an inspiration, a mentor, and a beacon of positivity. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate his life, his achievements, and his indomitable spirit. A celebration of Joey’s life will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 30, 2023 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 am.

Joseph Jezewski, Jr., affectionately known by all as Joey, was born on the 21st of December, 1961 in Dothan, Alabama. He left this world, leaving a void that cannot be filled, on the 26th of June, 2023.

Joey was the beloved son of Joe Jezewski, Sr. His mother, Martha Culpepper Jezewski preceded him in death. He was a cherished brother to his sister Teresa and her husband, Ken Cline. He was a beloved uncle to his niece, Lauren and her husband Lance Tidwell, and his nephew, Tyler Cline. Also left to cherish his memory is his faithful K9 companion, General Lee and his good friends, Blake Quattlebaum and Sonja and Charles Goldsmith. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he treasured the time he spent with them.

A proud graduate of Dale County High School, Joey's thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. He carried this passion into his career by becoming the owner of the Sylvan Learning Center. Here, he was able to impact countless lives by fostering a love for learning in the hearts of many students.

Joey was an intelligent and adventurous man with an interesting personality that was contagious. He had an innate ability to engage and captivate anyone he interacted with. His wit and wisdom were admired by all who were fortunate to know him.

Joey's interests were as diverse as they were numerous. He had a deep love for travel, particularly within the United States. His favorite destination was New Orleans, where he reveled in the vibrancy of Mardi Gras. He was also a huge Civil War buff, finding great joy in delving into the history and intricacies of this pivotal period in American history.

A lover of the culinary arts, Joey was known to cook gourmet meals, particularly those with a French flair. His love for cooking was only surpassed by his love for sharing these meals with his family and friends. The memories created around the dining table will be cherished by his loved ones for years to come.

Joey embodied the spirit of hard work. He believed that “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary." This quote by Vince Lombardi perfectly encapsulates Joey's approach to life. He was always ready to roll up his sleeves and give his all, whether it was in his professional life or in his personal pursuits.

The news of Joey's passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a beacon of light who lived life to the fullest. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends. His spirit will live on through the lives he touched, the students he inspired, and the delicious meals he lovingly prepared. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, the joy of learning, and the beauty of shared meals and shared memories. As we remember Joey, let us strive to embody the wonderful qualities that made him such a remarkable individual. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on, illuminating the lives of those he left behind.
