Joseph Lee Stanski, 60, of Daleville passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 am Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Military Honors will follow with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1152 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36303, or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA, 22311.
Mr. Stanski was born January 26, 1951 in Syracuse, NY and lived the early part of his life in Fulton, NY. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served for 6 years prior to his transfer to the reserve. While serving as a reservist he was activated during Operation Enduring Freedom from 2003-2004 serving in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Stanski has resided in Alabama for more than 25 years and was employed as an aircraft mechanic with AFS at the time of his death. He was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include his girlfriend Terri Libra of Daleville, AL; brothers, James (Brenda) Stanski of Fulton, NY, and Stanley (Maureen) Stanski of Harrisburg, PA; sisters, Sharon Stanski, Dawn Stanski, Anne (Phil) Alton, and Patricia (Edward) Bowering, all of Fulton, NY; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
