HEADLAND. . .Joseph Wayne Gamble, a resident of Headland, died late Tuesday morning, November 12, 2024, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 15, 2024, in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, near Ashford, with Pastor Vann Cooley and Reverend William Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Wayne Gamble was born and reared in the Cedar Springs community, near Ashford, son of the late Luther Hill Gamble and Miriam Rosell Drinkwater Gamble. He attended Houston County High School in Columbia. Wayne lived in the Center community, near Webb, most of his adult lifetime. He was retired from WalMart in the Sporting Goods department. In earlier years, Wayne was engaged in farming. He was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Ann Gamble, two sisters, Patricia Gainey and Becky Prevatt, and a brother, Timothy Gamble.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Carrie McCraney Gamble; a daughter, Rhonda Walker (Bobby), Cowarts; a granddaughter, Jordan Walker (Ethan Pirtle), sisters, Myra McCraney, Ashford; Peggy Blocker (Darril), Newton; and Carolyn Jernigan, Dothan; a brother, Dennis Gamble (Earlene), Cottonwood; an aunt, June Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jeff Blocker, Phillip Blocker, Jason Gamble, Greg Gamble, Jason Daum, Tanner Goodson and Josh McCraney.
