EDWIN COMMUNITY. . .Joseph Wesley (Joe) Traywick, a resident of the Edwin Community of Henry County, died early Friday morning, February 24, 2017, in a Dothan hospital. He was 73.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (C.S.T.) Monday, February 27, 2017, in the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Henderson and Reverend Larry Sowell officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City at 2:30 PM (EST) Monday. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. (C.S.T.) Monday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Terry Whaley, 5328 Walden Drive, Dothan, AL 36303.


            Mr. Traywick was born in Rocky Head Community of Dale County, son of the late Lowell L. Traywick and Willie Pearl Jacobs Traywick. He formerly lived in Columbus and Eufaula before moving to Edwin in 2000. Mr. Traywick was a member of the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church. He was employed for most of his lifetime as an automobile mechanic. In later years, Mr. Traywick was self-employed in the vending machine business. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Traywick, and a daughter, Shirley Griggs.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Jennie Turner Traywick, his children, Allen Traywick (Toni), and Joey Sasser (Linda), all of Columbus, GA; Diane Wilkerson (PeeWee), and Lou Jackson (Ingram), all of Kinston; Wanda McLendon, Columbus, GA; Johnny Turner (Danni), Honduras; R. J. Turner, (Emily), Edwin; Terry Whaley (Kenneth) Kinsey; and Mona Crapps (Bill), Eufaula; two brothers, James L. Traywick (Vikki), and Jimmy R. Traywick (Sherian), all of Fortson, GA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a special cousin, Phil.
