MIDLAND CITY. . .Joy Bullock Deal, a resident of Dale County, between Midland City and Echo, died early Tuesday morning, October 26, 2021, at her home. She was 82.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 29, 2021, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jerome “Bo” Weed officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Mrs. Deal was born and reared in Bessemer, Alabama, daughter of the late Oscar Jesse Bullock and Alice Fulton Bullock. She moved to Dale County in 1965. Mrs. Deal was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. She was formerly employed as an Insurance Clerk in the office of Dr. Paul Flowers. Mrs. Deal was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Ann Bullock and Clemmie Jones, and a brother, Stanley Bullock. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving relatives include her loving husband of sixty-one years, Roy Deal; a daughter, Rhonda Deal Pate (Mark), Midland City; a son, David Deal (Rita), Winnsboro, SC; a brother, Kenneth Bullock (Margie), Bessemer, AL; four grandchildren, Adam Harden (Heather), Krysta Thompson (Thomas), Avery Owens (Corey) and Nathan Deal; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Thompson, Graham Thompson, Addie-Reece Harden, Harper-May Harden and Ava Joy Owens; several nieces and nephews.
