POMPANO BEACH, FLORIDA. . .Joy Sanders Adams, a resident of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Columbia, Alabama, died Friday morning, May 13, 2016, in a Ft. Lauderdale hospital. She was 88.


            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 16, 2016, in the Columbia City Cemetery with Reverend Joey Hudspeth and Dr. Walter Reeder officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Columbia, AL 36319.


            Mrs. Adams was born in Birmingham, Alabama and was reared in Miami, Florida, daughter of the late Edwin Johnson Sanders and Hope Steele Sanders. She attended the University of Alabama. Mrs. Adams lived in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale most of her adult lifetime before moving to Columbia in 2000. She moved to Pompano Beach in 2013 where she lived the remainder of her lifetime.  Mrs. Adams retired as Office Manager of Neurologic Consultants in Ft. Lauderdale. She was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, L. H. Adams, Jr., and two brothers, Edwin Johnston Sanders, Jr. and James Steele Sanders.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Starr Sands Paton (Douglas), Oakland Park, Florida; and Melody Sands Sepskis (Ray), Boulder City, Nevada; grandsons, Clayton Huber (Sarah), and Ryan Paton (Suzanne); and a granddaughter, Julia Sepskis; three great-grandchildren, Camryn and Sydney Huber and Noah Paton.
