Joyce Deloris Whittle, a beacon of love and passion, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 76. Born on October 9, 1947, in Hartford, Alabama, Joyce’s gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family defined her life’s journey.

Joyce was the cherished daughter of the late Mather and Leola Whittle. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby, Bill, Millard, Ellis, and Douglas Whittle, and her sister, Mabel Hallford. Her legacy of love continues through her son, Billy Caudill; her sister, Sarah Coe-Johnson; several adoring nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Daisy; and her lifelong friends, Belinda and Helen, who stood by her through thick and thin.

A master in the kitchen, Joyce was renowned for her culinary skills, delighting family and friends with dishes that warmed the heart as much as they satisfied the palate. Her home was always filled with the tantalizing aromas of her latest creations, a testament to her passion for cooking.

Beyond her kitchen, Joyce’s green thumb brought beauty to the world through her lush flowers. Her garden was a vibrant tapestry of colors and scents, a reflection of her love for nature and her ability to nurture life in all its forms.

Growing up in Hartford, Joyce’s personality was as bright and engaging as the flowers she so lovingly tended. She was a fun and happy person, whose laughter and joy were infectious to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Above all, Joyce was a devoted mother to her favorite and only son, Billy. Her love for him was boundless, and she poured every ounce of her being into ensuring his happiness and well-being. As a sister and aunt, Joyce was equally dedicated, always there to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a comforting shoulder to lean on.

Those who knew Joyce would describe her as loving, passionate, and gentle. Her presence was a soothing balm in a hectic world, and her ability to love unconditionally was a rare gift that she freely gave to all.

A Celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 9, 2024, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Joyce’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and selfless devotion. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have been a part of her life. Joyce Deloris Whittle will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the beauty of her flowers will return with each spring, a lasting reminder of her gentle touch on this world.
