The story began in the Eastern hills of Tennessee when a little girl named Dorothy Joyce was born to Hubert and Edith Latham on July 13, 1937. She became a beautiful young woman and married her “prince charming” and high school sweetheart, Fred M. “Buddy” Duff, on December 19, 1955. There were many trials and tribulations on their journey to Enterprise, but they trusted God’s plan and held tightly to His Word. Their family began growing with the addition of Patty and Susan and expanded even more with the birth of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most people knew her as Joyce, but to those who loved her all the stars in the sky and sand on the beach, she was our Nina. From brownies and pound cakes to Nina tea, she was well-known for her exceptional skills in the kitchen and everything was seasoned with love. Her hands were gentle enough to wipe tears and soothe fevers but tough enough to tend the garden and be the quarterback or pitcher for both teams. She was our loudest cheerleader at the ballpark, football stadium or wrestling arena. She had a servant’s heart and loved helping others. Her light will continue to burn brightly in the lives of all those she has touched. She leaves many loved ones to cherish her memory:  husband and the love of her life Fred “Buddy” Duff of Enterprise, AL, two daughters Patty Duff Adkison and husband Larry of Enterprise, AL and Susan Duff Manville and husband David of Lorton, VA., grandchildren Amanda Adkison of Birmingham, AL, Brandon Adkison and wife Madison of Enterprise, AL, Mason Manville, Carson Manville and Pierson Manville all of Lorton, VA., great-grandchildren William Adkison, Weston Adkison and Wyatt Adkison all of Enterprise, AL, sister Betty Harvey of Cave Creek, TN, sister-in-law Barbara Duff Luttrell of Lenoir City, TN, brother-in-law Jack Duff and wife Margaret of Lenoir City, TN, sister-in-law Donna Duff Brewster and husband Dean of Lenoir City TN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, countless friends and neighbors, as well as, her New Home Baptist Church family. There are no words to adequately describe how greatly she will be missed here on earth by those who love her, but we know she is rejoicing with Jesus in heaven. The lyrics of her favorite song are the perfect summation to her story-“I’ve had a wonderful life. The Lord’s been so good to me.”

Her life will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 25, 2018 at New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Quincey officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2734 County Road 617, Enterprise, Alabama 36330 or pay it forward in memory of Joyce.
