Joyce T. Dees, 79, a resident of Dothan passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion with Rev. Rob Oates officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 3012 West Main Street, Dothan, AL, 36303.

Mrs. Dees was born April 5, 1935 in Bessemer, Alabama, to the late Charles and Hazel Tyndle and lived there the early part of her life until her marriage to Raymond in 1955. She has been a resident of Dothan since 1960 and was retired from Dothan City Schools. In addition to being a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dothan, she was also a lifetime member of the Dothan Service League, a member of the Ladies of the Elks, President of the Women of the Church at First Presbyterian Church, longtime volunteer/scorer at the Future Masters Golf Tournament, and her Bridge Club of 30+ years at the Dothan Country Club.

Survivors include her husband Raymond F. Dees of Dothan; her son Michael (Tonya) Dees (Louisville, KY); her daughter Michelene (Charles) McDougle (Dothan); grandchildren, Morgan (Daniel) Weeks (Birmingham, AL), Laurel McDougle (Dothan), and Kaylee McDougle (Dothan); sisters, Charlotte Herring (Bessemer, AL), Nora Jones (Hoover, AL), and Trudy (Paul) Nabors (Gulf Shores, AL); a niece Debbie Smith and a nephew Darron Williford (Bessemer, AL).

The family would like to express a very special thank you to the nurses and staff of the 3rd Floor at Southeast Alabama Medical Center for all of the special care, compassion, and love shown to Joyce over the past several years.
