Judge Frederick C. Hamic, Sr. of Samson, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, Alabama.

Fred was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 7, 1945 to the late William (Bill) Hamic and Bernice Ledford Hamic. He was very proud to say he was raised in the little town of Ringold, GA. Fred graduated with his Master’s Degree in Political Science and City Management from The University of Georgia. Fred was a strong and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was the biggest Georgia Bulldawg Fan and Jerry Lee Lewis Fan you would ever come into contact with.

Fred had many occupations, but the one he was most proud of was serving as Probate Judge of Geneva County. This career gave Judge Hamic the opportunity to fight for his beloved county like the bulldawg he was. His passion was helping the mentally challenged.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, one child (William Jennings Hamic), one sister (Linda Hamic Brown), one brother-in-law (Joe Crim) and his dear wife (Barbara Gillespie Hamic).

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Alyce Hamic Chestnut (Lee) of Rome, GA; Brandie Charle Hamic-Savage (Tyler) of Panama City Beach, FL; Edie Vallon Hamic Hand (Dustin) of Samson, AL; and one son, Frederick ‘Ric’ Charles Hamic, Jr. of South Sudan, Africa; three granddaughters, Haley Vallon Chestnut Veal (Aaron) of Gainesville, GA; Ava Grace Savage of Panama City Beach, FL; and Scarlet Loralei Hand of Samson, AL; 2 sisters, Nancy Hamic Crim of Chattanooga, TN and Shelby Hamic Roberts (Greg) of Knoxville, TN; and one brother in law, Eddie Gillespie (Lisa) of Martin, GA.

The family apologizes for the quick services and no real funeral, but Covid has changed our lives and broken our hearts.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Samson, AL on Thursday January 7, 2021 from 5:00PM-7:00PM.

The Graveside Service will be held with burial at Travelers Rest Cemetery on Friday January 8, 2021 at 2:00PM.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Children’s Hospital of Alabama 1600 7th Ave S. Birmingham, AL 35233 of which his granddaughter, Scarlet, is a patient.

The family wishes to thank friends and the wonderful community for their heartfelt sympathies during this time.
