Judy was born December 24, 1947 in Malone, Florida to the late Dwiot Herring and Eunice Williams. In addition to her parents, her husband Joel Childs and son Chris Robinson, all preceded her in death. Judy was married to the late Joel Childs for 26 years. Together they raised three wonderful children. In the early years of their marriage, she was a stay-at-home mother and devoted farmer’s wife. Later Judy returned to college and obtained an Elementary Education degree from Troy University-Dothan. She taught 6th grade at Wicksburg Elementary School for over 25 years. Her passion for teaching and helping young students to become successful adults will be her greatest legacy. After the passing of Joel, she married loving and devoted husband Gary Joiner. They were married for 20 years. Together they loved spending time at the beach and river. Judy loved boat riding, enjoying the outdoors and working in her yards. Judy was a dedicated wife, adoring mother and grandmother. Her “grandbabies” always knew the doors and cabinets at Nannie’s house were always open. Judy’s infectious smile, willingness to help others and extreme love and dedication for her family will be deeply missed. She was a member of Hartford Baptist Church, Scattering Seeds Women’s group, and Garden Club. She fought and beat cancer for over 5 years. Her incredible fight to survive will forever be a testament of the incredible strength and faith.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Joiner; brother Buddy (Melissa) Herring; son Jody Childs (Jennifer); daughter Cheri (Richie) Cox, Step-son Shaun (Christine) Joiner, Step daughter Sherry (Robin) Blackburn and daughter- in- law Donna Robinson; as well as seven grandchildren Christopher Robinson, Connor Childs, Brady Cox, Bella Childs, step grandson Cody (Kayla) Joiner, step granddaughters Rachel (Colton) Miller and Emily (Dylan) Gieselmann; and a host of many other loving family and friends.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to special friends and caregivers Gwen Majors and Mindy McDonald. A special thank you for the loving and incredible care given by Gentiva hospice.

Pallbearers include Terry Odom, Neil Outlaw, Todd Brannon, Chris Reeder, Ross Thomley and Bryan Whitehead.
