Judy Mims Hendley, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday afternoon, September 6, 2015, at her home. She was 73.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2015, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Matthew Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, 1302 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, AL 36301.
Judy Hendley was born and reared in Abbeville, daughter of the late J.O. Mims and Elma Smith Mims. She was the Valedictorian of the Abbeville High School Class of 1960 and also attended the University of Alabama. Judy was a member of the Old Zion Baptist Church. She was retired from WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville as Data Program Manager. Judy was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Mims and Eddie Mims.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Donald Wayne Hendley, Sr., Abbeville; a daughter, Wendy Hendley Miller (Charles), Pike Road, AL; a son, Wayne Hendley, Jr., Dothan; a brother, Jerry Mims (Nancy), Abbeville.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Hospice and the many friends in the community for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Hendley during her illness.
