Julia Ann Glass Newton, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, February 10, 2017. She was 75.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Private family burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Gordon, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30-2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wiregrass Children’s Home, PO Box 6813, Dothan, AL 36302.

Mrs. Newton was born on October 6, 1941 in Houston County and lived there the early years of her life. She moved to Dale County when she was 11 years old. Mrs. Newton graduated from Midland City High School in 1960. She was employed with Twitchell Corporation for many years. Mrs. Newton was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to garden and to color.

Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her parents, George Willis Glass and Beatrice Glass Bullock and by her sister, Bobbie Fletcher.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dennis McKnight; her grandson, Dylan McKnight; her sister, Sybil Enfinger; her very special friend, Belinda Bracewell; brother-in-law, Willie Earl Fletcher; several nieces and nephews.
