Juliette Ferris Batts Turk, a resident of Dothan passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at a local hospital. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:30-1 pm.
Mrs. Turk was born to Dr. H. Lewis Batts and Ferris Sherwood Batts on September 20, 1927. She lived the early years of her life in Rochester, NY before moving to Macon, GA and graduated from Mercer University. Mrs. Turk received a degree and taught second grade for a short while before moving to Dothan in 1953. She worked with her husband and was the office secretary at Young Jr. High School from 1963 until it closed. Mrs. Turk loved to play the piano and pipe organ and had the voice of an angel. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She will be remembered for her loving, caring and thoughtful ways. Mrs. Turk was a founding member of the Dothan Chapter PEO Sisterhood and was a member of the Dothan Service League.
Mrs. Turk was preceded in death by her husband, George Watson Turk, and by her son-in-law, Dave Lummus.
Survivors include her children, Lynn (Steve) Perryman, Helena, AL, Teedy Lummus, Dothan, AL, Cheryl (Jim) Walters, Gainesville, GA, and Dr. George Turk, Jr., Tallahassee, FL; her 6 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
