Julius  Payton, of Ozark, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 11, 2016 at his residence. He was 92.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dwight Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. on Monday prior to service time.


Mr. Payton was born August 4, 1924 in Chilton County, Alabama and lived his early life there. In 1963, he moved to Ozark and was employed at Fort Rucker with aircraft maintenance contractors for 28 years prior to his rertirement. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to fish. Mr. Payton was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Ozark. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.


He is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Earlene Payton and a granddaughter, Mandi Kilpatrick Murray.


Survivors include 5 daughters, Judy Brown (Jerry Sanders) of Ozark, Diane Hulvey (Edward Jr.) of Dothan, Donna Kilpatrick (John) of Ariton, Joan Ellis (Rodger) of Ozark  and Tammy Moyd (Mike) of Ozark; 14 grandchildren, Chris Brown (Nancy), Andrea Givens (Ben), Justin Hulvey (Kelli), Jenna Barron (Kyle), Joshua Hulvey, Jacob Hulvey, Brad Kilpatrick (Samone), Drew Murray, Matt Ellis (Lydia), Kyle Ellis (Bailey), Ashley Cary (Ryan), David Rosser (Bonnie), Tyler Moyd and Evan Moyd; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.


Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
