Kai Lewis Sallas

The family would like to invite friends and family to gather with them at 11 am on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Kai's memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many loving friends and family that loved him dearly. His life, though brief, was a testament to the fact that the quality of one's existence far outweighs the quantity of time spent on this earth. Kai's presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those he has left behind.

Kai Lewis Sallas, a beacon of joy and strength, passed away peacefully in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 14, 2024, at the tender age of four. Born in Dothan, Alabama, on February 27, 2020, to loving parents Elijah Sallas and Kaitlyn Milhone, Kai was a cherished soul who brought immense happiness to all who knew him.

From the very beginning, Kai was a fighter. He arrived early into this world and quickly showed his resilience and determination. Despite the challenges of being nonverbal, he embraced sign language with enthusiasm, allowing him to communicate with those around him. Kai's love for life was evident in his passion for the outdoors, where he would run and play with boundless energy. He was particularly fond of swimming, a place where he felt free and exuberant.

Kai's infectious laughter and sunny disposition were a constant source of light for his family and friends. "Wheels on the Bus" was his favorite song, and he could often be found dancing along to its cheerful tune. His zest for life was matched by his love for mashed potatoes, which he enjoyed with gusto whenever he had the opportunity to eat. Kai's independence and adventurous spirit made him a very busy and always on-the-go child. He cherished his blanket, a symbol of the comfort and love that surrounded him.

His family, including his grandparents, Adelita and Raymond Jones, Sonya Ball and Franklin Sallas, and great-grandparents, Bobbie Snell, Carol, and Charles Ball, remember Kai as a loving and courageous boy. His aunts, Alexis Milhone, Emma Reeves, and Alex Sallas, have fond memories of Kai's adventures and his unwavering spirit. Special thanks are extended to Brittany and the team at Circle East Rehabilitation, as well as Tracy Biggs from Reaching New Horizons, for their compassionate care and support.

Kai's time at the therapy center was filled with joy and personal triumphs. He was known for his eagerness to learn and his ability to bring a smile to the faces of everyone he met. His natural curiosity and desire to explore the world around him made every day an adventure.

In the hearts of those who loved him, Kai Lewis Sallas will forever be remembered as a beautiful child who, with his loving nature and adventurous heart, taught us all the true meaning of courage and the joy of living each moment to the fullest. His laughter, his energy, and his indomitable spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
