KATE NEWTON RESTER
KINSEY. . .Kate Deese Newton Rester, age 89, a resident of Kinsey, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013, in a Dothan hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Reverend Brad Hardy and Reverend Robert Strickland officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Kinsey Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Kinsey Baptist Church, 6745 Walden Drive, Kinsey, AL 36303.
Kate, daughter of the late S.L. Deese and Iola McArdle Deese, was born March 5, 1924, in Houston County, Alabama. She was a 1943 graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia. Kate was married to Brunson Newton from 1942 until his death in 1978, and was married to A.C. (Penny) Rester from 1988 until his death in 2000.
Kate was retired from Ansell Corporation in 1988. She was a member of the Kinsey Baptist Church. Kate enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, camping, taking walks, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed her participation in the Tuesday Morning Senior Ladies Bowling League at Patricia Lanes. Her family will remember her energy and hard work, her resilient, fun-loving spirit, and her selfless dedication to them.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Kate was preceded in death by a brother, Hilyard Deese, and a sister, Cassie Mae Barnes.
Kate is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Judy and Terry Dixon of Rehobeth; and Brenda and Ray Hollis of Kinsey; granddaughters and their husbands, Breanna and Brian North of Rehobeth; and Haley and Shaun Staton of Hoover, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Riley and Emma North of Rehobeth; and a special friend, Buford Sanders of Kinsey.
