Katie Simmons, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at a local hospital.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tarrie Waddle officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00-1:00 pm.
Katie was born on August 9, 1935 to the late William and Maggie Wilkins in Dale County, AL. She lived in Midland City the early years of her life. Katie met and married the love her life, Lewis Simmons and moved to Orlando, FL. They resided in Orlando until 2007, then moved to Dothan. Katie was the pastor at the Little Country Church for 31 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed making crafts and loved to sing and listen to music. Katie loved most of all her Lord and Savior Jesus.
Katie was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Simmons, her sons, Rick Simmons and Ronnie Simmons, and by her grandchild, Heather Faircloth; great-grandchild, Austin Faircloth; and sisters, Sue Urbano, Jimmie Lee Walker and Patricia Ward.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Garrison; her daughter, Brenda Bollette (fiancé, Mark Pelfrey); her son, Russell (April) Simmons; daughter in law, Grace Simmons; her grandchildren, Dana Brown, Kenneth Simmons, Rick Cassese, Kattie Breland, Jason Bollette and Cody Simmons; her brothers, Buster (Martha) Wilkins and Joe (Janice) Wilkins; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
