Born on December 23, 1971, in Alabama, to the late James and Jeanette Cooper, Katrina’s life was a testament to her indomitable spirit and her deep-seated passion for the joys of life.

From her earliest days, Katrina’s radiant smile and gentle nature were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. She carried these traits into every aspect of her life, from her devotion to her beloved Auburn Football team—her rallying cry of "War Eagle!" echoing on game days—to her cherished moments with her boys.

Katrina’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence, a love that was returned tenfold by her husband, Jairo Melgarejo; her boys, Dustin Cole Mills and James Dylan Mills; her supportive siblings, Michelle Schaefer (David), Kelli Anderson (Clay), and Mark Cooper (Tina), and her best friend, Brandie Carr, who stood by her side through life’s most challenging moments.
