Kent Lanier Oder, 74, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, June, 27, 2019.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 12:45 pm, one hour prior to the service at Glover Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will be accepting flowers.
Kent was born in Donalsonville, Georgia on March 15, 1945, to the late Royce and Roslind Skipper Oder. He lived his early years in Panama City, FL and Tallahassee, FL before moving to Dothan. He graduated from Leon High School in Tallahassee. He was employed in the trucking industry most of his life. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Barbara Mallory Douglas.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Oder; 2 sons Paxton of Kenai, Alaska and Kenny (Merri) of Soldotna, Alaska; 3 daughters Paula Pharis (Joe) of Dothan, Kimberley Carol Sweet (Matt) of Kenai, Alaska, and Rhonda Rankin (Tex) of Dothan; 2 brothers Charles (Jane) of Anderson, SC, Terry Oder of Lake Seminole, GA; special friends Tracy Pippin of Malvern, Matt Fellows of Cowarts, Wayne Mallory of Midland City; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tex Rankin, Joe Pharis, Charlie Oder, Ryan Rankin, Daniel Axtell, Matt Fellows, Kaleb Franke and Kevin Hughes. Honorary bearers are Andy Turner, Terry Oder, Michael Scarborough, Tracy Pippin, Danny Dansby, and Wayne Mallory.
