HEADLAND….Sgt. 1st Class, Alabama Army National Guard, Kim H. (Rooster) Ethridge, a resident of Headland, died unexpectedly Friday evening, October 21, 2016 in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 52.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 24, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mr. Ethridge was a native of the Tumbleton Community, near Headland. He was a 1982 Graduate of Headland High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Central Texas College. Mr. Ethridge was currently serving in the Alabama Army National Guard, 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Birmingham, AL, where he served two tours during Operation Enduring Freedom, served in the Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts in New Orleans, and also participated in the Wounded Warrior Project, Ft. Bragg, NC. Sgt. Ethridge trained other National Guard troops that were being deployed to Iraq and also assisted troops that were returning from Iraq. He was currently employed by Kenworth of Alabama in Dothan as the inventory control manager.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Tami Ethridge, Headland; a daughter, Courtney Ethridge, Headland; parents, Kenneth and Jean Gamble Ethridge, Tumbleton Community; a sister, Kendra Feltman, Dothan; a brother, Keith Ethridge (Debbie), Headland; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clyde and Billie Cunningham, Dothan; a sister-in-law, Patricia McCallister, Panama City, FL; his feline grandchildren, Goober, LuLu, and Zeus
