Kimberly Dawn Godwin, passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on March 6, 1967, to Sue Ellen Ennis Godwin and the late Roy Roney Godwin, Kim’s life was a testament to the power of a joyous spirit.


Kim’s early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, a bond that only grew stronger with time. She was a cherished sister to Joy Brannon and her husband Cleo, Ashley Bass and her husband Ryan, Melody Brannon, Charles Godwin, and Gary Godwin. Her role as a mother to her beloved son Jonathan Godwin, along with his wife Shannon, was one of her greatest joys. The title of "Gamma" to her grandchildren, Kinsley and Troy Godwin, was worn as a badge of honor, and the love she had for them was immeasurable.


A former member of the Burns Assembly of God Church, Kim’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. It was this faith that she carried into all aspects of her life, from the shores of her favorite beaches to the tranquil lakes and campsites she frequented. Her love for the outdoors was only surpassed by her passion for singing, a talent she shared generously with all who had the pleasure to listen.


Kim’s presence was a gift to her family and friends, who found in her a constant source of support and kindness. Her aunt Nez Tharpe, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends, will forever remember Kimberly’s infectious laughter and the way she made each person feel like the most important in the world.


Described by those who knew her as loving, generous, and selfless, Kim’s legacy is one of unwavering love and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and memories shared by those who loved her.


Kim will be remembered as a loving mother and Gamma who had a loving heart, a beautiful soul, and a heart of gold.


Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2024 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Royce Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Rick Brannon, Andrew Brannon, Matthew Brannon, Jason Kennedy, Ryan Bass, and Cleo Brannon.
