Mr. Kit Ashcraft of New Brockton passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 in Dothan at Flowers Hospital with his loving wife Mare and private care nurse Kat Spicer by his side. He was 67.
Memorialization was by cremation. There will no type of services held at this time. The family has chosen to hold a memorial gathering at Mr. Kit and Mrs. Marilyn’s home at a later date. As per Mr. Ashcraft’s wishes, his ashes will be taken back to Tollhouse, California and scattered over his lab’s grave, Kansas.
Mr. Kit was born on January 8, 1947 in Red Bluff, California to the late Gordon Charles and Beverly Irish Ashcraft. Mr. Ashcraft served his country in the United States Army and was also a Vietnam Veteran. Kit was a Chevrolet SS car enthusiast who enjoyed restoring them from the ground up. He was also a loving husband, and a loving father to all of his furry friends.
In addition to his parents, his loving lab, Kansas, greeted him in Heaven.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marilyn “Mare” Ashcraft, New Brockton; one brother, Dale Ashcraft (Loretta); three sisters: Linda Walker (Mel), Karen Logan (Merwin), Judy Amrein (Frankie) all of California; his Alabama family who thought of him as the fifth brother includes: Richard and Kathy Spicer, Enterprise; Gene Spicer, Slocomb; Larry Spicer, New Brockton; Nancey and Matt Lancaster, Summerdale; Bo and Wendy Spicer, New Brockton, and Lisa and Bill Seims, Geneva; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kit also leaves behind his furry friends which he loved dearly. They were known as Daddy’s babies, and include: Cody, his German Short hair, Cadee Sue, his black lab, and his tom cat Oreo.
