L. Lanette Patterson, 70, of Gibsonton, Florida, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, September 16, 2017. She was born October 10, 1946 in Alexander City, Alabama to James Olin and LaFaye Peters.
Surviving are her two daughters, Robin (Bruce) Bradley of Gibsonton, Florida and Crystal (Calvin) Capps of Pensacola, Florida, along with many close friends and family whom Lanette loved and cherished, both in Alabama and in Florida.
Lanette was a long time resident of Clanton, Alabama where she raised her beloved daughters and remained until she retired from Cook’s Pest Control in Montgomery, Alabama. While living in Clanton, Lanette worked with many charaties rescuing and rehoming abused and neglected animals. She was a member of Popular Springs Baptist Church in Clanton, Alabama.
After retirement, Lanette moved to Florida to help care for her chronically ill daughter. She loved to visit Disney World, Busch Gardens, Sea World and the Manatee Viewing Center. When not exploring, site seeing or enjoying collecting sea shells on the beach in Florida, Lanette spent her time knitting, crocheting, Kayaking, reading, sewing, caring for the pets, and helping Robin and Bruce find misplaced items on a daily basis.
But most of all, in the many nights Lanette was in the hospital accompanied by her daughter, Robin, she found amusement by locking and unlocking the front door of the house via her cell phone to awaken the dogs, make them bark and wake Bruce up, which was then followed by a text to Bruce saying “Doorbell” or “Someone at the door.”
Visitation is from 9:00 until 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Searcy Funeral Home. The burial will be at 11:00 A.M. at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating.
