Obituary: Lanette Smith Clark


 


Lanette Smith Clark, 89, of Fadette, AL, was called home to her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2023. Lanette was born October 18, 1933, in Geneva County, AL. 


She worked as a seamstress at Warner’s before working at Sony in Dothan until her retirement in 1993. Lanette was a kind woman who loved her family dearly. After her first husband Delma passed, she soon afterward felt called to be a pastor’s wife to Rev. Rudolph Clark, and they faithfully served the First Pentecostal Church of Geneva. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling together. 


Lanette was predeceased by her husband, Delma Smith of 33 years, second husband, Rev. Rudolph Clark, brothers Bobby Morgan and Larry Morgan, parents T.G. and Etta Morgan, son-in-law Larry Clark, and stepson Paul Clark. 


She is survived by her five children, Gayle Clark, Dianne Herring, Grady Smith (Diane), Danny Smith (Melita), and Sarah Phillips (Charlie); grandchildren, Misty Clark, Amy Sims (Gary), Deanna Beck (Greg), Dalisha Herring, Shannon Holton (Brian), Brian Smith (Miranda), Lauren Chandler (Ed), Eve Baltzell (Ian), John Allen Phillips (Denise); great-grandchildren, Maceo Sims, Natalie and Kylie Holton, Caroline, Carter and Collin Smith, Hannah and Aiden Baltzell, and Riley Jane and John Tillman Phillips. She is also survived by her stepson Carlos Clark (Sheila), step-granddaughters Melissa Hendricks (Stephen) and J.J. Clark; two sisters-in-law Sue Morgan and Margie Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. 


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Adam Watkins officiating and Rev. Stephen Hendricks delivering the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. 


Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. 


Serving as pall bearers include Aiden Baltzell, Ian Baltzell, Ed Chandler, Brian Holton, John Allen Phillips, and Brian Smith. Honorary pall bearers include JR Carroll, Allen Morgan, Michael Morgan, and Philip Morgan.
