ABBEVILLE. . .Larry R. Ryals, a resident of Abbeville, died early Saturday morning, June 26, 2021, in Taylor, Alabama. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 28, 2021, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Preston and Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
In lieu of flowers and food, memorial contributions may be made to the Edwin Cemetery Fund, c/o Lamar Spivey, 6261 County Road 54, West, Clopton, AL 36317.
Larry Ryals was born in the Edwin Community of Henry County, son of the late Warren Collie Ryals and Vera Florence Woodham Ryals. He was a 1953 graduate of Abbeville High School. Larry and his parents moved to Abbeville in 1974. He was a member of the Edwin United Methodist Church and formerly attended the Mt. Enon Primitive Baptist Church. Larry was retired from the Henry County Board of Education as Chief Financial Officer. In earlier years, he was the co-owner and operator of White-Ryals Ford and was also employed by David Money Ford as an Accountant and Parts Manager. In later years, Larry worked for the Holman family at the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Helen Peters Ryals; a step-daughter, Leona Howard (Rex), Dothan; and a step-son, David Baxter (Robin), Tucson, Az; three step-grandchildren, Brad Tillery, Tony Tillery and Devan Baxter, two step great-grandchildren; Zander Tillery and Aaron Tillery; several cousins including, Charles Woodham, Sarah Williams, Gene Woodham, Ruth Hammond and Henry Beaty.
