Laura Thompson Knurr of Wellington, Florida passed away Friday afternoon, July 25, 2014. She was 50 years of age.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, July 28, 2014 in the chapel at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Moffitt officiating. Burial will follow at the family cemetery, Joshua’s Garden with Rabbi Lynne D. Goldsmith officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00pm until time of service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Concord Congregational Methodist Church, 1086 County Rd. 23, Ariton, AL. 36311.
Laura was born and raised in Skipperville, Alabama with two younger brothers, Scott and Marc Thompson. She attended Dixie Academy in Louisville and GW Long in Skipperville. Laura graduated from Carroll High School in Ozark and attended Wallace Community College. She graduated from University of South Alabama in Mobile with a BSN. Laura served as pianist and also sang while playing piano at Concord Congregational Methodist Church.
Laura was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Adam Knurr; her grandparents, Hazen and Myrtle Thompson and GM and Cullie Woodard.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Alexander J. Knurr of Wellington, FL; her parents, Gwendolyn and Thomas Anthony Thompson of Skipperville, AL; her daughter, Sara Alexa Knurr of Wellington, FL; her brothers, Marc Thompson of Skipperville, AL., and Dr. Scott Thompson and his wife Amy of Dothan, AL.; also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Alissa Thompson, Dakota Thompson, Brook Thompson, Heather Greiner, Jacob, Jonah and Joshua Thompson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark, Scott and Dakota Thompson and Eric and Jordan Knurr.
