LEAH SIMS CHILDREE
KINSEY… Leah Sims Childree, a resident of Kinsey, Alabama passed away Wednesday morning, July 10, 2024, at a Dothan hospital. She was 53.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home and Crematory in Headland, Alabama with Reverend Brad Hardy and Reverend Jeff Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Springs Baptist Church Cemetery near Columbia, Alabama. The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 12, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. through 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Leah was born August 25, 1970, in Dothan, Alabama and was preceded in death by her parents, Billy D. and Carolyn Hagler Doswell, and a grandson, Hunter Senn. She was a graduate of Houston County High School and Wallace Community College and was medically retired from Southern Bone & Joint. She was a loving and devoted wife to Jessie Childree with whom she was married for almost 20 years. Her children include Justin Sims (Carlee) of Opp, Alabama, Brittin Sims (Haley) of Midland City, Alabama, Bailey Sims (Brook) of Cowarts, Alabama, Emily Childree of Dothan, Alabama, and Bradley Childree of Kinsey, Alabama. Leah was a member of Kinsey Baptist Church.
Leah is survived by her two sisters, Carol Doswell of Dothan, and Sharon Elliott (Braxton) of Columbia; a brother, Durwood Doswell (Sharon) of Kinsey; two Aunts, Gwendolyn Doswell and Nell Moore; and one uncle, Charles Hall, all of Kinsey. Grandchildren include Adalyn Sims, Vivian Sims, Amelia Sims, Brayden Senn, Haisten Sims, Elizabeth Sims, Benny Sims, Gunner Senn, Magnolia Sims, and Everleigh Sims. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins who loved her dearly.
Pallbearers will be Justin Sims, Brittin Sims, Bailey Sims, Bradley Childree, Brandon Elliott, Jeremy Doswell, and Jason Doswell.
The family wished to thank Dialysis Clinic, Inc. as well as extended family and friends for their many expressions of love shown to Leah throughout her illness.
