HALEBURG. . .Leavonia Weems Fleming, a resident of the Haleburg Community in Henry County, died Sunday morning, June 3, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. She was 83.



            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 4, 2012, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Abbeville.



            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6267, Dothan, AL. 36302.



            Mrs. Fleming was born in Columbus, Georgia, daughter of the late George Washington Weems and Etha Lee Strickland Weems. She lived near Haleburg most of her lifetime.  Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Rufus Fleming, two sisters, Sue Diane Weems and Annette Spencer and two brothers, Richard Weems and Doug Weems.



            Surviving relatives include two sisters, Jennie Pearl Hicks, and Linda Price and husband, Frankie, all of Haleburg; a brother-in-law, Leonard Spencer, Rolla, Missouri; several nieces and nephews including, Richard S. Weems and wife, Lisa, Tallahassee, Florida; and her special canine friend, “Sunshine”.
