Lemuel Hullen Murphy, a man of loving spirit and adventurous heart, passed away on April 14, 2024, after an extended illness at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida. Born on October 9, 1955, in Pleasanton, California, Lemuel’s journey through life was marked by his fearless nature and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of the outdoors.
Lemuel was a cherished member of the Gateway Baptist Church of Headland, where his faith was as steadfast as his love for reading the Bible. His passion for life was evident in the way he rode and raced motorcycles, a testament to his adventurous spirit. Lemuel’s talents extended to his hands, as he was a really good artist, especially in drawing, capturing the beauty of the world as he saw it.
He was a man who found solace in nature, whether it was fishing, riding in his mother’s Jeep, or simply being outdoors. Lemuel’s love for his family and animals knew no bounds, and his presence was a source of comfort and joy to those around him.
Lemuel was preceded in death by his father, David Murphy; his wife, Susie Murphy; and his nephew, David Hullen Echols. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his mother, Glenna Murphy; sister, Denise Shiver; brothers, Bruce Murphy and Tim Murphy (Patsy); nephews, James Echols and Jeremiah Murphy; and stepchildren, Stephen Cureton, Stacey Foster, and Kristi Adams.
Lemuel Hullen Murphy will be remembered as a loving, handy, and adventurous soul, whose life was a testament to the power of love and family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
