. Mrs. Lena Pitts Andress of Madrid died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 83. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Friday, March 23, 2012, from the Chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Addis Habbard and Mark Brackin officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ward Wilson Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M., Friday, March 23, 2012. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Madrid United Methodist Church. Mrs. Andress was born October 23, 1928, in Houston County, Alabama, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pitts. She was a loving wife of 63 years to the late Mr. John Isaac Andress, loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She graduated from Rehobeth High School, attended Wallace College in her later years, was a former mayor of Madrid and an active Madrid City Council Member until her death. Mrs. Andress loved cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and entertaining her women’s bible club. She truly loved her Wal-Mart work family and serving as a devoted member of Madrid United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her late parents Thomas and Lena Mae Pitts, sisters Sissy Dennis, Margeurite Coleman, Betty Simpler, brothers Woodrow Pitts and Billy Pitts. Her loving husband and best friend John Isaac Andress. Survivors includes: daughter, Selena Bond and her husband, Ricky of Madrid; sons, John David Andress and his wife, Shirley of Madrid; Jimmy Andress and his wife, Kathy of Ashford; Thomas Andress and his wife Ivy of Madrid; one brother Yudon Pitts and wife Viola of Dothan; sister-n-law Sara Pitts of Cottonwood. Grandchildren, Brian Andress of Madrid; Marilyn and Jeff Evans of Opelika; Lindsey Meadows and husband Richard of Birmingham; Candace Bond of Auburn; Katherine Andress Bond of Madrid; John Patrick Andress of IL; Catherine Grace Andress of Madrid; Thomas Dalton Andress of Madrid; great-grand children, Gabe Newman of Troy; Kaylin Andress of Madrid; Emma Grace Andress of Madrid; Landon Andress of Madrid; Ashton Evans of Opelika; John Carter Evans of Opelika and Addison Kate Bond of Madrid. Pallbearers will be Gabe Newman, Patrick Andress, Dalton Andress, Brian Andress, Jeff Evans, and Richard Meadows. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Pitts, Scotty Pitts, Gary Coleman, Roger Simpler, Tommy Simpler, Sidney Watford, Joe Mixon, Tony Mixon, Rodney Pitts, and Steve Holland. Very special family friend and caregiver Jacquie McCray.
