Leonard A. Johnson, age 81 of Dothan passed away Sunday April 13, 2014 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will held at 4 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Kocsis and Jim Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 3-4 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL, 36302, or to your favorite charity.
Mr. Johnson was born March 5, 1933 in Geneva, Illinois and lived the early part of his life in Lilly Lake, IL. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served for several years as an instructor pilot at Ft. Rucker. He was later employed at Northrop as a test pilot from 1965-1974 and lived in various places across the country returning to Dothan in 1984. He was involved in Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as a Lay Minister. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents Eric and Helene Johnson, a grandson Justin Childers, and a brother-in-law Emmett McKay.
Survivors include his wife Jannie Johnson; a son Tim (Karla) Johnson; a daughter Lynn (Bobby) Leger; grandchildren, Ethan Johnson, Carrie Leger, Travis Leger, Amy Elliott, and Brandy Evans; brothers, Filip (Donna) Johnson, Glenn (Carol) Johnson, and Tom Johnson; a sister, Ruth (Colin) Kaltenbach; a brother-in-law, Dalton Penn; a sister-in-law, Bonnie McKay; a special niece, Claire Grantham; several nieces and nephews.
