COMMANDER HILL COMMUNITY……. Mr. Leonard M. Carroll, a resident of the Commander Hill Community, Barbour County, died Saturday morning, January 11, 2020 at his home. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in the Calvary Assembly of God Church with Pastor Randy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 12:00 Noon Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Carroll, son of the late Pharoah Carroll and Sallie Childree Carroll, was a native of Barbour County near Commander Hill. He formerly lived in Avon Park and Lakeland, Florida before returning to Barbour County in 1991. Mr. Carroll was retired as a brick layer from Alert Refractory Inc. working in nuclear power plants, paper mills, fertilizer plants and steel mills. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Sue Werner; two sisters, Ruby Stacks and Mattris Carroll; six brothers, P.R. Carroll, J.D. Carroll, Cullen Carroll, Huey Carroll, Corbin Carroll and his twin brother, Harold Carroll.
Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-five years, Elinor Doster Carroll; his son, Kenny Carroll (Lisa Ward), all of Commander Hill Community; two sisters, JoAnn Childree, Ozark and Sarah Dunn, Lakeland, FL; his brother, Harris Carroll, Commander Hill Community; two grandchildren, Michelle Koopenhoffer and Tori Ward; three great grandchildren, Toby, Matthew, and Emma Koopenhoffer; three sisters-in-law, Betty Warren, Ariton; Rosie Doster and Chrissie Doster, both of Lakeland, FL; his brother-in-law, Bobby Doster (Phyllis), Lakeland, FL; several nieces and nephews.
