Lewis Bascom “Rooster” Powell of Westville, FL passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 72 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL with Rev. Larry McGowan and Rev. Ed Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Mr. Powell was born in Westville, FL on September 18, 1949 to the late Wilmer and Earlene Peacock Powell. Lewis proudly served in the United States Army where he bravely fought for his country in the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the fraternal order of Freemasons. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and working on his farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dot Powell, and one brother, Wayne Powell.
Mr. Powell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Debora Janet Powell; one son, Dale Powell (Shalee); one daughter, Tina Dixon (Johnny); grandchildren, Marissa Slay (Boone), Cami Hatcher (Reid), Madison Powell (Ryan), Lydia Dixon, Amery Dixon, and Cease Powell; great grandchildren, Ridge, Wren, and Rye Slay; two sisters, Sue Newell (Gary), and Emily Vilene Mixon.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Grimsley, Steve Gillman, Jesse McAdams, Boone Slay, Reid Hatcher, and Ryan Eldridge.
