Lillian LaVerne Hawk Blackshear passed away peacefully on October 29, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Austin, Texas. She was 89.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Rev. Ben Bowden officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.
LaVerne was born July 28, 1928. Originally from Edison, Georgia, she was a longtime resident of Enterprise and a member of First Baptist Church.
She is preceded by her parents, Roy and Mattie Durr; her husband, Robert Hawk; her brother, Herbert; and a beloved uncle, aunt, and cousin; James Edward, Ruby, and Ned Bridges, as well as many other friends and relatives.
She is survived by her son Scott Hawk of Seattle, Washington and her daughter Lisa Spann of Austin, Texas.
She is also survived by five granddaughters, Amanda (Jeffery) Lewis of Killeen, Texas; Katherine (Devin) Donnell of Bellwood, Alabama; Erica Olsen of Seattle, Washington; Elizabeth (Ashton) Cutts of Killeen, Texas; and Victoria Hawk of Stanwood, Washington; and one grandson, Jacob Spann of Auburn, Alabama. She was blessed to also have five great granddaughters, Madalyn, Lillian, Mary Katherine, Peyton, and Abigail.
LaVerne was a loving mother, caring friend, kind nurse, and devoted wife of an Army officer who served 32 years. She enjoyed painting, sewing, swimming, traveling, and being involved in civic organizations such as garden club and hospice. Her charitable nature, care for her family and friends, and devotion to the Lord set an example that will last long after her passing.
