DOTHAN. . .Lillie Rene Bonds, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday night, February 16, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. She was 97.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jerome Lister, Reverend Delvick McKay and Reverend Charles Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to “GSMBC” Legacy Campaign, P.O. Box 62, Headland, AL 36345.
Mrs. Bonds was born and raised in Headland, daughter of the late Dave Woodruff Whatley and Catherine Pouncey Whatley. She lived in Headland all her lifetime until moving to Dothan in 1992. Mrs. Bonds was a member of the St. Walden Missionary Baptist Church and was a former member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Headland. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Woods Choice Chapter No. 356. Mrs. Bonds was a homemaker, florist, beautician, designed hats (millinery), and made pottery. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. W. “Ruck” Bonds, ten children and all her sisters and brothers.
Surviving relatives include seven daughters, Alice Culver, Dothan; Debra Bonds, Montgomery; Catherine Bonds, Headland; Minister Felicia Russell, Dothan; Cynthia Helms, Dothan; Louise Dean (Scotty), Dothan; and Caldonia Moore (David), Dothan; three sons, Wayne Reeves (Jerlean), Tampa, FL; Dr. Charles Bonds (Dr. Theresa Bonds), Statesboro, GA; and Reverend Willie Bonds (Betty), Dothan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several great-great-greatgrandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons.
