A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 pm.

Linda Jo Lanton, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 69 years old.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 pm.
Mrs. Lanton was born on February 6, 1953 in Gadsden, Alabama and moved to Dothan in 1971. She would then move to Columbia in 1984 where she worked in retail management in a local convenience store. Mrs. Lanton loved her family deeply especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, working puzzles, reading, and video games. During her recent illness Mrs. Lanton was lovingly taken care of by her daughters and granddaughters-in-law.
Mrs. Lanton is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ray Lanton, by her son, Shane Lanton, her parents, Doris Rose Nance and J. H. Brown, Sr., and by her brother, J. H. Brown, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Amanda Lanton and Emily (Ray) White; her three grandchildren, David (Harley) Williams, Derrick (Charlotte) Williams, and Shane (Eliza) Williams; her two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Penelope; her brothers, David Brown and Gary Brown; her sisters, Ann Black, Donna Attell, Angela Lee, and Sherry Gilland; step children, Faye Sims and Ray Lanton; and several nieces and nephews.
