Heaven gained a beautiful lady, February 10, 2024, Lindy Lou (Dees) Sears. She was born in Dothan, Alabama on October 15, 1940, to Walter Jack and Elma Vann Dees. Mrs. Sears attended schools in Dothan and graduated from Dothan High School in 1959.
Lindy began her career at GTE shortly after graduation and became a service writer. It was obvious she loved her work and her coworkers because she continued working there until she retired in 1990, a total of 31 years.
Her life was forever changed when she met the love of her life, Vernon Sears. They were married on September 2, 1961. She was a young bride with a husband serving in Vietnam, but the many letters and photographs kept them close in heart. They were married until July 26, 2020, when he preceded her into his heavenly home.
She had a true servant’s heart and asked nothing in return. She and Vernon spent hours serving in various capacities in church, assisting veterans in need, and helping many individuals they encountered.
Lindy was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by a niece, Elaine McHorse (Gainesville, TX); cousins, Martha McGrady Hawkins (Frank), Patrick, Ashley, and Will McGrady, Emma McGrady, Pam Stacey, Tim Stacey (Lisa), Donna, Doug, and Jodie Enfinger.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Glover Funeral Home with Reverend Teresa Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
